Hovering Near 26

The title describes the temperature this coming week! Getting chilly :):) I'm still really slow with translating my life into the units of ฿ (baht) for money, metric for measuring, and Celsius for temperature.
Me and another exchange student, Victoria from Ontario, have a lot in common. Her nickname is Bpin, and I've been able to spend this last weekend with her after Chanthaburi had a flood (don't worry, all is well). Together, the two of us have discovered quite a few differences between our cultures and the Thai culture. One of them is a bit odd to us. Thai people always seem to be not drinking water. It's like they're more of camels than me, who's known to not drink enough. Of course in Thailand, I've changed my ways and now Victoria and I are drinking as much water as we can handle. Yet the native people deal with the heat just fine and get by with just a few cups of water per day. Maybe we aren't used to the heat and humidity like they are? Anyhow, I feel constantly more thirsty than my peers.
Tan skin is quiiite popular in the good ol' States, but that's not the case here. Pale skin is the epitome of beauty, along with light hair and eyes. I am amused when my friends hold up their arms to mine and praise my color, or when someone shakes their head in disbelief when I try to explain that actually, without Thai sunshine, my skin can get even lighter. But I don't want to blind everybody :P:P
Who decided that rice, coconut meat, and pumpkin pieces go really well with ice cream? I disagree with them. I also admit my opposition to corn, as a dessert. Which is HUGELY popular here...whipped cream and coconut-based ice cream are all good and well...but let's keep the veggies in a non-dessert category, shall we?
I'm a bit confused by the way my current host family cooks and cleans. I don't know why, but the bedding's not washed all that often. And most of my clothing is ironed. I don't mind the ironing, as long as I don't have a go at it; that would not end well...I would be ironing my own clothing, except our family has a neighbor come by every few days to iron the clothing we hang outside. I keep seeing corn around the house...ears of corn without the husk...but for some reason, said corn has yet to show up in my food. Hmm. Maybe we cook it and give it to a friend? If I get a chance to cook it myself, Victoria and I want to try and make cornbread. They even have butter and honey we can buy at the store :):)

P.S. Thais decided that candy should be creative. So someone made toffee using dragonfruit, and my teacher gave me a few. Best candy ever. Guess what I'm bringing back to USA?
