Our rotary district inbounds walked over two kilometers in a parade of sorts, fundraising all the while with donation boxes for flood victims. I'm not sure what amount we earned but we contributed nicely. Or at least my broken sandals and sore legs seemed to think so.
When you encounter a door, try letting the Canadian open it. Success rate will be higher.
While the night passed, me and three wonderful exchange students ate much wonderful carbs and discussed issues such as the economy and capital punishment. The following night contained walking over a kilometer away from our hotel, at night, in search of food. Bad idea, especially for claustrophobics, and very much bad idea when we turned back after remembering....there's a restaurant attached to our hotel in the first place.
That place had excellent fries. We ate two bowls before they had a chance to cool down. We would have bought more, except we had between 4 and 31 baht to our names. The same place was also home to overly persistent karaoke singers and the world's cutest kitten.
The above happened in Pattaya last weekend, as well as some rather amazing swimming in the ocean. That water is all salt and no waves; not too pretty but it's warm and we floated so easily. Pattaya is called a city but I now consider it a tourist trap of sorts. It's not all very nice-looking, and I felt overwhelmed by the odd farangs we kept encountering. Also the traffic and crowding was unpleasant. Pattaya is it's best (worst) and night, with many famous bar girls and nighttime hangouts. I couldn't drag my friends in :P
But the view of the place from our hotel balcony at 21:30 was more than decent. After swimming in your clothes, balcony rails are good places to dry them off. Just make sure a wind isn't starting up. Oh, and be cautious if an iPod or retainer accompanies you to Pattaya. Absences may occur :/

Happy December, the Cantaloupe
