สวัสดีปีใหม่...2555.
Yes, for all those unaware, we have time travelled. Either that, or I'm waaaaay in the future. Because I live in the Buddhist calendar in the year 2555.
On New Year's Eve, I went to my friend Aoy's house, but our plans to make egg nog and dutch babies (if you don't know either of those, I'm so sorry, we simply must introduce you) were cancelled..........
I'm seeing a pattern here...
However, we did get to spend a good day at Chao Lao beach; I wasn't told we were going to the beach beforehand though. So I didn't apply sunblock. Amazingly, my glowing white skin survived with no sunburns! Once we all arrived in Aoy's house, we bought and wrapped small gifts for the new year's gift exchange. **they do it for new year's instead of christmas; they use the christmas decorations and gift traditions for new year's as well** For dinner, Aoy prepared the meat and veggies herself! I helped too, and together with Aoy's mom, the two of us assembled shish kebabs. On the stick were peppers (no, the intense chilli kind I can't eat!), tomatoes, pineapple, and thai barbequed pork. I must say.....the neighborhood's dinner for New Year's was a real treat when our grilled kebabs turned out perfectly :)
I missed the countdown this year, but I did it in my head, and at midnight we watched the neighborhood fireworks and played with sparklers, <3 <3 <3. Those sparklers were used up super fast because there were about ten children total in the area. Then the nighttime karaoke through the loudspeakers resumed again, and Aoy and I requested to play the playlist we had made for New Year's using danceable new music. Sadly, the kids turned us down and instead sang even more karaoke. Of the ear bleeding genre, me and Aoy agreed.
We may or may not have done some hilariously reckless dancing in Aoy's room before I fell asleep.
New Year's was fun. Not quite as fun as Christmas, but who can complain when they've seen the second Sherlock Holmes movie!?! Me and Victoria went together into the new cinema. The cinema's inside the new Big C supercenter, complete with Thai AND English language choices! I cannot adequately convey my pleasure at this new development.
Next up, I'll try to post pictures inside the blog.....however, you can expect me to not do it correctly and so, check my facebook!
Oh, and THREE days until I switch to my second host family! :)
